CDBaby REVIEWS

"Fans of artists like Marc Cohn, James Taylor, and Josh Kelley will find much to enjoy when listening to the nine tracks on Embers.

Matt Mead has a keen eye for detail and the ability to aptly capture little moments and nuances in his verses. Mead doesn’t quite “rock”; his lyrics and music flow gently, skipping over a rough-textured voice. If the pacing of the album occasionally drags, it can be forgiven due to the quality of the work presented.

With tunes ranging from the exuberant romance of “Take a Chance” (“I want to be everything you’d imagine a man like me should be”) to the darker “Feed the Animals” (“You’ve got enough blood to go around for the animals tonight/For a carnivore’s delight”), Mead comes across as seasoned observer of the world."

Wonderfully written and performed!

"Smooth flowing intro that set the mood for the entire piece. Very well executed! I could easily imagine your band on an arena stage with all eyes on you. You'd have no trouble fitting amongst the musical greats and legends! I hope to see you there someday. Wonderful job! I'm sure to expect more from you!"

Jaunty, Lively, Catchy, Memorable

"Great musicianship on this. The electric guitars have a great bluesy tone, and the acoustic guitar is effective as rhythm. The song overall is a good "slice of life" song, with lyrics that describe evocative scenes. Reminds me of the Counting Crows a bit. Very nice work overall. Good, good stuff."

Cool

"Nice laid back beat to set up a laid back groove. I like the wah - and the organ is nice as well. The guitar playing is very nice and clean on the verse. I like the interplay between the acoustic and the electric. reminds me of the eagles or something.
The production is good."
